An A to Z Gratitude List

November is traditionally a month for gratitude.  Some people create a daily gratitude post for social media. Others use prompts and write in a gratitude journal every day. Others wait until they are gathered around the Thanksgiving table to share things they are grateful for with their friends and family. How do you share your gratitude during November? I haven’t been as focused this year on gratitude as I have been in the past. For the past year, every night I write down 5 specific things from that day that I am grateful for and that seems to have filled a need. But, in general, there are things that I…

15 Things I am Grateful For

Part of my nighttime routine is to write a list of things that I am grateful for. I’ve been consistently writing in my gratitude journal for almost a year. I first heard of the idea years ago in “The Slight Edge” by Jeff Olson. He says that writing down 3 different things you’re grateful every day will, over time, make you happier. Through the process of searching for the positive, you begin to rewire your brain to see the world in a different way. You become more aware of the good. I more recently heard about the importance of being thankful from Rachel Hollis when I participated in her last…

30 Days of Gratitude (Free Printable)

I love this time of year. The weather is cooling off, and we can do more things outside. Several holidays occur, and we get to spend time with family. The spirit of giving is in the air, and we often focus on the things we are grateful for. Every November the kids and I do 30 days of Gratitude. We’ve done it a little different every year. One year we just went around the circle every day and verbally shared a gratitude. Another year we kept a journal, and wrote down a different thing every day. Last year I made a gratitude book for each kid with a daily prompt…

    The best FLIPping month ever!

I finished reading FLIP the Gratitude Switch by Kevin Clayson.  I first heard of Kevin and his book on the Becoming Your Best podcast. It’s a great podcast about success principles behind the transformation we undergo in order to become the best versions of ourselves.  They interview lots of super successful people in a variety of industries that exemplify these principles.  The episode with Kevin Clayson can be listened to here. In all honesty, I wasn’t expecting much from the book.  Mr. Clayson sent me a free copy, and my assumption was that another self-promoting, struggling author/coach was just hoping for some traction in his struggle to get his empire off the…

    Happiness Habits

“Happiness is created by doing some simple, easy things, and doing them every day.” from The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson The first time I read The Slight Edge, I was most impacted by chapter 7: The Secret of Happiness. Jeff Olson shares 5 Happiness Habits found in another book called The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Achor. These habits, if done consistently, every day will, over time, make you happier. You will began to rewire your brain to see the world in a different way. Each morning, write down 3 things you’re grateful for. Different things each day. This trains your brain to search for the positive and be aware of the good. Journal for 2 minutes…

    Cultivating and Attitude of Gratitude

I love that we get to experience things in patterns! Often I learn a new principle or I am reminded of something I knew previously, and suddenly I have several experiences, conversations, or other exposures to that exact principle within the next days to weeks. This just happened this week.  Just a couple of days ago, I posted my weekly video which was about Reframing.  That same day I decided to finally get around to reading the book: FLIP the Gratitude Switch by Kevin Clayson. (I don’t remember the exact manner in which this happened, but Kevin sent me a copy of his book with a personalized note in it.) FLIP the Gratitude…
