My 7 Favorite Podcasts

AAACK! This morning, when I went to open my podcasts, I discovered that my whole library had been deleted!

No downloaded episodes.

No subscribed-to shows.

I have no idea what happened. But, I re-subscribed to all that I could remember and started listening.

I discovered podcasts about a year ago. I know. . .I’m a little slow. I guess I just didn’t get what they were. Maybe you are in the same boat. Maybe you are wondering what podcasts are and why should you listen to them. Or maybe you already have a list of podcasts that you love and listen to daily/weekly. Or maybe you are just waiting for someone to recommend the right one that gets you addicted and you have to binge all the old episodes. (I may or may not have experienced this.)

Podcast listening got started for me when a friend recommended a specific episode. I listened to it and wondered if there were more. Turns out there were over 100 episodes. I had a lot of catching up to do!

After that first podcast, I somehow found other ones to listen to. I’m not sure if I searched them out or if they were recommended. I’ve had some that I haven’t liked and deleted, some that I’ve loved and have listened to every episode, and others that are eh and I listen to only if the title is catchy.

Today I’d like to share 7 of my favorites. (all links are in iTunes but the podcasts can be found on other platforms)

The first podcast I listened to was Bold New Mom. (She later changed it to Better Than Happy.) I love what Jody Moore teaches and how she teaches it. The information is principle-based, practical and easy to apply in everyday life. It is good for moms, kids, everyone.

RISE with Rachel Hollis is my newest favorite. I have no idea how this one got in my feed by I am so grateful for it. Rachel has helped me more clearly see what my mission is and how to get there. Her energy is contagious and she is so real and relatable.

A close second to RISE is RISE Together. This is a podcast Rachel does with her husband Dave Hollis. I love the idea of creating a business and pursuing a dream with your spouse. Rachel and Dave talk about how to have a great relationship while building a business and raising a family.

The Women with Fire podcast is one that I was surprised I would like, but it has creeped onto my favorites list. Sarah and Michelle are LDS women who share their experiences as moms and business women. They do 2 podcasts a week. I like the shows they do about the QUEST—having and chasing a dream, struggling along the journey, and achieving success. One thing I especially like about Sarah and Michelle is their testimonies and knowledge of the gospel.

The Holderness Family is hilarious! I listen to this one just for fun, but I often learn a lot at the same time. Kim and Penn know how to have a good time together and you can tell they like to share that happiness with others.

The Homeschool Sisters is for homeschool families or those that are thinking about homeschooling. Cait and Kara know that homeschooling can be a scary thing, but having a support group makes it easier. They share resources and tips that have worked for them and hope will work for you.

The Child Whisperer is hosted by Carol Tuttle and her daughter Anne Brown. It is a podcast that focuses on understanding your child’s personality and energy type to solve parenting problems. They are both experts in their field and share their experience in a way that is easy to apply.
